A: A clear liquid is generally considered one that you can see through to the other side. Acceptable clear liquids include: water, tea, Apple juice, Ginger ale, Sprite, 7UP, Gatorade, Powerade, Vitamin Water, Crystal Light. Black coffee is considered a clear liquid.
Gatorade® (No red colored flavors) Regular Gatorade®, Gatorade G2®, Powerade®, Powerade Zero®, Pedialyte or Propel® are acceptable. Red flavors are not allowed; all other colors (yellow, green, orange, purple, blue) are okay.
One 64-ounce bottle AND one 32-ounce bottle of Gatorade, Propel, Vitamin Water, Crystal Light, or other noncarbonated liquid drink. Colors you can use include clear, yellow, orange, or green. You cannot drink anything that is colored red, blue or purple.

Many people may feel nauseous while drinking the bowel prep. To help with this, try mixing the MiraLAX powder with clear liquids you like drinking. If you feel like vomiting, you should drink slowly, and take a break. This means you should stop drinking the liquid for 30 to 45 minutes to let your stomach empty.
If you are struggling to drink your colonoscopy prep without throwing up, survivors recommend drinking the laxative cold – and through a straw – for the most pleasant experience.
Try to drink quickly rather than sipping. Drink half the laxative the evening before the procedure. This takes about 2 hours, drinking a glass every 10 to 15 minutes. Store the rest in the refrigerator until the morning of your procedure.

You want your stool to be clear. After drinking all of your prep, your bowel movements should be all liquid yellow and clear like picture #4 or #5. If so, you are ready and good to go!
Although doctors' instructions may differ slightly from practice to practice, the list of foods and beverages to avoid prior to your colonoscopy will probably include red, purple, orange and sometimes blue Jell-O or other gelatin brands, along with any fluids in those hues.

It is combined with about a gallon of water to draw fluid into the colon to flush out feces. MiraLAX is also powdered PEG, but doesn't contain electrolytes. It needs to be combined with two quarts of Gatorade to replace the electrolytes lost in watery diarrhea during the prep process.

Drink 16-ounces of Original Gatorade or PowerAde - (any color but red) at bedtime or at midnight the night before surgery. On the day of surgery drink 12 - ounces of Original Gatorade or PowerAde (no red) 1 hour prior to arrival time at the hospital.
Gatorade G2 has extra nutrients that can help improve your recovery after surgery. Gatorade G2 is lower in sugar and carbohydrates and is safe for diabetic patients to drink before surgery. A nurse will call you on the business day before your surgery and review these instructions with you.
2 Days Before Your Colonoscopy
Gatorade: 2 quarts (64 ounces). No red, orange or purple flavors. Low-calorie G2 is OK. Miralax: one 8.3-ounce (238 grams, 14 dose) bottle.
If your prep is unflavored, you can add Crystal Light, Kool-Aid powder or mix it with water and lemon. However, stick with lemon, lime and orange flavors and avoid liquids with red or purple dye as they can interfere with colonoscopy results.
You still have to consume lots of additional fluid to flush out your colon, but you can use almost any clear liquid you like – such as water, juice or Gatorade (But no red, purple or blue-coloured drinks which can stain the colon and lead to misleading test results.)
On the day before your colonoscopy — when you're restricted to clear liquids — you can have popsicles, Jell-O, clear broth, coffee or tea (without milk or creamer), soft drinks, Italian ice, or Gatorade. But take nothing with red, blue, or purple dye.
When should you not drink Gatorade?
While Gatorade can help you stay hydrated, it's best to only drink it when needed. For people who aren't exercising for at least one hour, five days per week, water is the best bet for staying hydrated. Electrolytes coming from natural sources without added sugars and dyes are recommended.
